........We next landed a few small rainbows up to thirteen inches. While we fished, I noticed that Bennie was concentrating his attention on specific areas along the shore as if he was looking for something in particular. When we approached what appeared to be a man made, submerged rock dam locals called a sill, Bennie oared the dory across the river below the structure.
........Just upstream along a steep cliff, a pod of fish were feeding on the surface. After resting the water to make sure they were not disturbed, Chris began making presentations.
........On her second cast, the stimulator was taken. It was one of those slow, confident rises often made by a good size trout. After feeling the bite of the hook, it raced downstream a good distance and held its ground. I thought we might have to lift anchor to give chase, but after constant prodding it swam back upstream below the rock dam. After that it was only a matter of a couple of tense moments before the twenty-three inch rainbow was landed.

A lot of the fishing we did used a large Stimulator with either a scud or San Juan Worm on a dropper.

........I was up next. After Chris' battle with the rainbow, the fish became suspicious and didn't begin feeding again for a few minutes. When they did, they wouldn't come all the way to the top. By watching closely, I could see the water bulge as they came close to the surface to take a nymph.
